On Wednesday in Richmond, several groups gathered after the Virginia General Assembly Legislative Hearing on the Clean Power Plan. These groups varied from faith based, public health, student, and environmental groups. These groups gathered in hopes to show the assembly that they would not stand idle while Virginia ignores the benefits of clean energy, and puts the profits of dirty fossil fuel companies over the health and future of our families. According to the Sierra Club’s event page, they hoped to “sound the alarm for climate action in the Commonwealth.” The Sierra Club rejects the choice between economy and environment, and strongly believes that the climate issue is already beginning to impact our families and communities.
